The Food Science and Engineering Experimental Center of Jilin University was founded in 2004. It was formed by food laboratories on the Heping Campus and Nanling Campus. In 2007, it was rated as the Provincial Food Science and Engineering Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Jilin Province. Now, The center has an area of 5600 square meters, more than 3,000 instruments and equipment, with a total value of more than 30 million RMB, in special, including 13 equipment with a unit price of more than 400,000 RMB, with a total value of 6.85 million RMB. All the experimental equipment in the center is of excellent quality, optimized combination and reasonable configuration. The per capita use area of students is about 9.5 squre meters, which provides students with a good practice platform. The center staff is reasonably allocated , with 11 full-time experimental teachers and 46 part-time experimental teachers. The central laboratory consists of 5 organizational laboratories and 1 public support platform, namely: Food Science and Engineering Experimental Teaching Center, Jilin Province Nutrition and Functional Food Key Laboratory, Food Safety Research Platform, Agricultural Product Processing and Storage Engineering Research Platform , Food Science and Engineering Research Platform and Food Testing Science Experiment Sub-center. The experimental center currently mainly undertakes the experimental teaching and scientific research tasks in our college, including annually 23 professional experimental teaching courses, and more than 40 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, and more than 30 entrepreneurial training projects, and more than 10 open innovation experimental projects. It is an important practice platform for undergraduate teaching, talent training and academic research in food science and engineering.
The experimental center is managed at school and college levels, with 1 director and 2 deputy directors. The deputy dean in charge of teaching served as the director of the center, and the deputy directors are the teachers with a deputy senior title or higher. The experimental center is managed by the school and the college. The center realizes the four unifications of experimental teaching and management, namely: one is Uniform use of experimental site; two is Uniform arrangement of experimental teaching; three is Uniform deployment of experimental personnel; and four is Uniform use of experimental teaching equipment and funds management. The experimental center uses a combination of two-dimensional code technology and website applications to manage the laboratory and equipment of the experimental center, including appointments for laboratory use, appointments for experimental equipment and equipment, ordering and receiving of laboratory drugs, online management of equipment use records, and experiments The external service function of the center. All central laboratories adopt a 24-hour appointment open operation mode, which realizes the three-dimensional management of the whole experiment process, and provides a guarantee for the efficient operation and sustainable development of the experiment center.
The Food Science and Engineering Experimental Center has made remarkable achievements in the construction of compound innovative talents, technology research and development, teaching reform practice, etc. Since the establishment of the center, the staff of the center have published more than 30 high-level SCI papers, 25 EI papers, and more than 20 teaching research papers. The undergraduates have undertaken 350 innovative experimental projects and participated in the application of 55 invention patents (20 authorized).
In the future, the experimental center will cultivate research, innovation, and compound talents, and be market-oriented, build a bridge between scientific research and functional food production enterprises, and give full play to the experimental center's cultivation of innovation in food science and engineering practice teaching. We are confident that we will build the center into a national experimental teaching demonstration center, and play a demonstrative role in the training of wide-caliber, thick-foundation, and composite cross-century innovative talents.
